Abstract

This essay explores the journey of Filipino hospitality students from public colleges to global cruise and hotel industries. While Filipino hospitality is widely praised for warmth and service, the realities behind the profession often involve outdated training, poor industry linkages, financial burdens, and exploitation. Students face challenges from inadequate school facilities to unpaid internships and costly overseas employment processes. To address these gaps, schools, agencies, and government must collaborate to provide ethical training, better resources, and career support. True success in hospitality must go beyond endurance—it must include dignity, growth, and protection for Filipino workers.
